Maldives Celebrates 60th Independence Day
Today, the Maldives proudly marks 60 years of independence. A significant national milestone. This historic day, July 26th, commemorates the moment in 1965 when our island nation peacefully ended its status as a British protectorate and stepped forward as a fully sovereign country. Thanks to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Ibrahim Nasir, we took control of our destiny and began shaping the Maldives into the world-class destination it is today.
New Terminal at Velana International Airport Officially Opens
Adding to this celebration, Velana International Airport today unveils its new passenger terminal, a major leap in Maldivian aviation and tourism infrastructure. This state-of-the-art facility not only enhances capacity and comfort for travellers but also reflects the Maldives’ growing status as a global tourism hub.
