Welcome to the fourth edition of The Sun Siyam Lifestyle. It’s our first issue of the New Year, and it is all about new starts, new treatments and looking forward to exciting new adventures here on our beautiful island. Firstly, we are delighted to announce the opening of our Indian Restaurant, Taste of India, a new part of poolside outlet, Fluid. Please join us in giving a warm welcome to Chef Anil who will lead the culinary team at this new eatery. We are very fortunate to have such a skilled and experienced chef with us on the island. For a New Year treat, we invite you to try our exhilarating and pampering fish therapy at the spa. Feel the tingling sensation as lots of mini therapists give your feet a uniquely luxurious treatment. We would also like to take you behind the scenes to meet an integral part of The Sun Siyam team – our resident housekeeper, Hamid Mohammed. Finally, we have special news for our younger guests, with updates from the team at the Koamas Kidz Club.

MEET THE SUN SIYAM HOUSEKEEPER: HAMID MOHAMMED

Hamid Mohammed, our highly skilled housekeeper, is from the Lhaviyani Atoll here in the Maldives. Hamid joined the hotel industry in 2000, starting his career at One and Only Resort in Kanuhura. By 2002, he had completed a BTEC Diploma in Hotel Management with an accredited certificate from Birmingham University. Hamid went from being a Restaurant Supervisor to Assistant Head Butler in 2004, after which he quickly ascended to Head Butler in 2010. Two years later, he joined Centara Ras Fushi as Assistant Executive Housekeeper, before arriving at The Sun Siyam. This rapid climb up the ladder is a testament to his hard work, dedication and talent. Hamid joined The Sun Siyam in 2013 as part of the rebranding team. We are truly fortunate to have such a highly skilled and experienced service professional with us.

A DELIGHTFUL NEW SPA THERAPY

We would like to warmly welcome you to our blissful The Spa by Thalgo. For the New Year, we are promoting rejuvenating treatments to help you start 2015 afresh. In particular, we recommend the truly unique and invigorating fish spa therapy. Our specialist team have created a magnificent and memorable package, starting with a foot cleansing ritual, which includes a massage from calf to toe. Then, a team of 300 aquatic therapists treat your feet. These 300 fish doctors (garra rufa) naturally remove dead skin. During the procedure, you can choose to have an optional eye massage with the Thalgo Eye Massager, or have your eyes covered with eye pillows. A wonderful way to end a day on the beach.

  A NEW IND IAN EATERY AT FLUID

We are thrilled to announce the launch of an exciting new eatery here at The Sun Siyam Iru Fushi – Taste of India. This new Indian restaurant located at the luxurious pool complex at Fluid fills the summer air with exotic spicy scents. Here, a skilled culinary team headed by new Indian chef Anil Kumar will fill plates with the very essence of India. Flavour-packed curries, delightful dhals and homemade infused naan breads are all created with Indian expertise and prepared with true Maldivian passion. We look forward to welcoming you for a colourful, poolside Indian dinner.

A WARM WELCOME TO CHEF ANIL KUMAR 

 The very talented chef Anil Kumar has arrived on our sandy shores to lead the team at Taste of India. Anil’s passion for cooking started as a child, while he eagerly wat

ched his mother and grandmother in the kitchen as they lovingly prepared hearty, delicious meals for the family. After earning a speciality diploma from IHM Panipat in Haryana in 2006, Anil began his professional career with the ITC group of luxury hotels in India. Here, he worked with master chefs gaining invaluable experience in the art of Indian cuisine. Anil expanded his portfolio with the Sunrise group of hotels in Sharm-el-Sheikh, Egypt, where he led the launch of two Indian restaurants to much acclaim.

Anil’s impressive culinary repertoire covers speciality dishes from all over India, but his particular talent lies in creating mouth-watering curries, kebabs and breads. We warmly welcome this talented chef into The Sun Siyam family and are excited to experience his creative and tantalizing menu filled with authentic Indian cuisine.

KOAMAS KIDZ CLUB

Koamas Kidz Club is a dedicated adventure playground for our valued young guests aged 3-12 years. Our professional team of childcare experts have created a wonderful programme of activities designed to enhance the little ones’ unique holiday experience at The Sun Siyam Iru Fushi Maldives.

Fully supervised and secure, with ample recreational space for age appropriate activities, Koamas Kidz Club has two air-conditioned games rooms with reading corners, a wide range of DVD movies and board games, and much more. There is also a private and comfortable room available for children younger than 3 years to nap, and where mothers can peacefully feed their babies. Outdoor facilities include a playground with slides, a mini basketball court and a fully supervised 1.5ft deep children’s swimming pool. Fun daily activities include face painting, temporary tattoos, a ‘meet and greet your new friend’, amongst others

A Fun Festive Season

The Koamas Kidz Club had a lot of fun over the festive season, with a kids’ cocktail party, pizza-baking sessions, a treasure hunt and a pool party. And of course, it wouldn’t have been Christmas without Father Christmas, who arrived in true Maldivian style.

Upcoming Activities

Easter snorkelling fun
Coming up this Easter, the Koamas team will offer a new snorkelling excursion designed for little swimmers. Kids should bring their swimming costumes and masks and head to Koamas Kidz Club from April 1 to April 5. For ages 6-12 only.

Discover nature walk
The team have designed another expedition for ages 6-12 – a fun and free 30-minute walk around our tropical island. As the children wander amongst the flower and fauna, experts will introduce them to Maldivian birds and trees and unveil the many uses of coconut trees.
