This Maldives National Day, The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands will mark the occasion with an evening that brings together art, music, food, and heritage.
The highlight of the celebration is an exhibition by Maldivian watercolor artist Shimha Shakeeb, who has been in residence at the resort throughout 2025. On August 24, she will present a new collection of 40 watercolor illustrations of native fish species, each one capturing the unique beauty of the Maldives’ marine life. These paintings will also be used to create a special Fish Card, designed to guide guests as they discover the lagoon and reef.
The exhibition will be hosted at Beach Shack, the resort’s relaxed beachfront restaurant, where guests can meet Shimha, watch her paint live, and hear the stories behind her work.
After the exhibition, the evening continues with a Maldivian Night-a celebration of island traditions with live music, local flavors, and a small market showcasing artisans from the community. With the ocean as a backdrop, it’s a chance to experience the Maldives in a way that goes beyond its natural beauty.
Through this collaboration, the resort highlights its support for Maldivian talent and traditions, giving guests the opportunity to connect with the cultural spirit of the islands.
If you’re dreaming of a trip that combines luxury with authentic local experiences, this is the perfect moment to plan your visit.
