IMMIGRATION & CUSTOMS – SIMPLIFIED AND EFFICIENT
Automated Passport Check
For Maldivian passport holders with electronic passports, immigration is now even faster with the Automated Passport Check system – a self-service channel that helps speed up clearance and reduce queues.
Visa Requirements
All tourists are granted a 30-day free visa on arrival, with no prior application needed. However, travelers must meet the basic entry requirements to be allowed immigration clearance. You can refer to the Maldives Immigration site for full details.
Fast Track Option
First Class, Business Class, and Priority Card holders will receive a FastTrack card onboard, giving them access to dedicated immigration lanes and a quicker route through the arrival formalities.
Restricted Items
To avoid delays, remember that luggage is scanned before it reaches you at baggage claim. Any restricted or commercial-use items may trigger a secondary screening. Importantly, alcohol is strictly prohibited and will be confiscated on arrival — even if purchased from duty-free.
ARRIVAL SERVICES – CONNECT, CHARGE, AND RELAX
Free Wi-Fi & Internet Kiosks
Whether you’re in the International or Domestic Terminal, you can stay connected with free Wi-Fi for up to 25 minutes. Just connect to “Airport Wi-Fi” and follow the on-screen instructions (a local SIM or roaming may be required). Internet kiosks are available in multiple gate areas for added convenience.
Mobile Charging Stations
Charging points are located throughout the terminals — in the check-in area, duty-free, gate areas, and domestic boarding sections, ensuring you never run out of battery during transit.

After clearing immigration, head to the Baggage Claim area. Flight-specific belt information is clearly displayed on digital screens above each carousel.
If you encounter issues such as lost or damaged baggage or misplaced items, dedicated counters are available to assist you promptly.

All of these upgraded services and facilities will be available to travelers from 26 July 2025, when the new international terminal at Velana International Airport officially opens to the world — marking a new era of travel to the Maldives.
