Aman has announced the name of its first resort in the Maldives, Amanolu, with the luxury property scheduled to open in Vaavu Atoll in 2028. The new resort will introduce Aman’s renowned approach to understated luxury, privacy and personalised service to one of the Maldives’ most naturally distinctive atolls.

Designed by Kerry Hill Architects (KHA), a longtime collaborator of Aman, Amanolu will draw inspiration from its island surroundings, with the design reflecting the natural beauty of white coral beaches, turquoise lagoons and the marine environment of Vaavu Atoll.
A Private Island Experience in Vaavu Atoll
Amanolu is planned to feature 52 guest accommodations and 16 Aman-branded residences, creating a combination of resort stays and private island living.
The residences are designed as highly private retreats, with each Aman Residence occupying its own private island within the development. Some will sit along a single shoreline, providing sunrise or sunset views, while others will extend from coast to coast, giving residents access to beaches on both sides of the island.
Each residence will feature five bedrooms, generous indoor and outdoor living spaces and private beaches. The residences will also include an 82-foot swimming pool and private berth, offering an elevated level of privacy and space for extended stays.
Dedicated staff accommodation within each residence will further support Aman’s personalised residential service, allowing owners and guests to enjoy tailored hospitality throughout their stay.
Wellness at the Heart of Amanolu
Wellness will be an important element of the Amanolu experience. A dedicated wellness island is planned to house an Aman Spa together with the brand’s signature Spa Houses.
The separate island concept allows wellness facilities to be integrated into the natural surroundings while creating a dedicated environment for relaxation and personalised wellbeing experiences.
For luxury travellers increasingly seeking destinations that combine privacy, nature and wellness, this approach adds another dimension to Amanolu’s positioning within the Maldives.
Marine Experiences and Island Activities
The natural environment of Vaavu Atoll will also play a central role in the resort experience.
A dedicated activity island will provide facilities for diving, snorkelling, watersports and other marine experiences. This will give guests opportunities to explore the surrounding Indian Ocean while experiencing the Maldives’ renowned underwater environment.
Alongside its wellness and marine offerings, Amanolu is expected to feature several dining venues, including concepts from Aman’s international culinary portfolio. The resort will also include family facilities and spaces designed for social gatherings.
Aman’s First Maldives Resort
Amanolu will mark Aman’s entry into the Maldives, adding the luxury hospitality group to the country’s growing portfolio of internationally recognised resort brands.
For the Maldives luxury travel market, the arrival of Aman represents another development in the destination’s evolution, particularly as travellers increasingly look for private, personalised and experience-led stays.
The combination of private residences, dedicated wellness facilities, marine activities and Aman’s signature service philosophy is expected to position Amanolu as a distinctive addition to the Maldives luxury resort landscape when it opens in 2028.
As development progresses, Amanolu will be a property to watch for international travel advisors, tour operators and luxury travel partners planning future Maldives programmes and bespoke itineraries.
