Fari Islands Festival: A Cultural First in the Maldives

June 5, 2025

This September, something beautifully different is happening in the Maldives. Two of the region’s most thoughtfully designed resorts-Patina Maldives and The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands-are coming together to host the first-ever Fari Islands Festival, a four-day celebration of creativity, culture, and meaningful connection.

From September 19-22, 2025, guests will be invited to step beyond the traditional idea of a Maldivian escape. This isn’t just a retreat-it’s a chance to slow down, listen, explore, and engage with the world in a deeper, more intentional way.

Where Art and Nature Meet

The festival blends everything that makes travel truly memorable: shared experiences, soul-stirring performances, and moments that stay with you long after you’ve left the island. The lineup includes a mix of poets, artists, musicians, wellness practitioners, and environmental thinkers-all gathered in one place for something that feels part retreat, part creative playground.

Poetry and Presence

Author and spoken word artist Rupi Kaur will be there in person, leading intimate readings and conversations about life, language, and self-expression.

Wellness, Grounded and Real

Expect more than just yoga on the beach. CJ Jones-Leake and sustainability advocate Anthony Mullally will guide guests through a daily rhythm of breathwork, mindful movement, and grounding rituals designed to reset and reconnect.

The Ocean as Teacher

Marine biologist and explorer Gibbs Kuguru joins the festival to lead snorkeling excursions and marine conservation workshops in partnership with the Olive Ridley Project. It’s a chance to learn, reflect, and rediscover your relationship with the ocean.

Sounds of the Islands

British DJ Kim Turnbull is curating the soundtrack of the festival, with ambient soundscapes and live sets that blend seamlessly into the rhythm of island life.

Food That Tells a Story

The culinary side of the festival is just as bold. Tokyo’s Wagyumafia will present its signature Kobe beef experience through a series of intimate dinners, while Nutmeg & Clove from Singapore will bring their award-winning cocktails to life through a sensory journey inspired by island ingredients.

Two Resorts, One Vision

The Fari Islands are unlike anywhere else in the Maldives. At their heart is a shared village that connects both resorts-Patina Maldives, known for its creative edge and quiet luxury, and The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, where tradition and nature are always in harmony.

The festival will flow across both resorts, allowing guests to move freely between spaces, experiences, and energies-from curated workshops and art installations to music sessions and night swims under the stars.

A Different Kind of Getaway

The Fari Islands Festival isn’t about filling your itinerary. It’s about slowing down, asking better questions, and being open to whatever moves you-a poem, a song, a swim, a conversation with someone you might not have met otherwise.

If you’re looking for something that’s more than a beach break-something thoughtful, creative, and rooted in connection-this might be your kind of escape.
