As season of giving and joy is here and preparations have been made underway to celebrate one of the biggest festivities of every year; Christmas and the New Year holidays.
As always, Kuramathi has created an extensive 9-day program suitable for your family and loved ones; from sporting events between team members and guests, to guided sustainable tours, wine tasting and sumptuous Gala dinners complete with delicious spreads! What really stands out this year as a novel experience for guests is a cultural evening held on the 28th of December. Starting from 21:00hrs until 23:00hrs, the spectacle highlights authentic arts and crafts presented by local artisans in 8 unique stalls, ranging from jewelry, ornaments, fruits and vegetable vendors to art paintings. A traditional house is also planned to be setup, displaying the way of life of ancestral Maldivians, providing rich insight to the habits of islanders, in a remote location. For instance, ‘Bodu beru’ a significant heritage event consisting of a troupe of local hand drummers, will perform and provide the perfect backdrop for a symbolic ‘large fish’ (otherwise known as ‘bodu mas’) cleverly designed using coconut palm leaves parading and dancing to rhythmic beats; alluring a curious audience to Maldivian heritage and culture.
