The festive season is set to bring extra colour and excitement to the Maldives as Niva Kurumba announces its 2026–2027 festive programme. Running from 21 December 2026 to 7 January 2027, the celebrations combine tropical Christmas traditions, island adventures, family activities, wellness and a spectacular circus-themed New Year.
The programme is designed around togetherness, discovery and memorable moments in the Maldives.
A Tropical Christmas in the Maldives
The festive season begins with a Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, accompanied by festive carols and island celebrations.
Christmas dining takes centre stage at Vihamaana. Guests can enjoy the Christmas Eve Gala Dinner and Christmas Day Lunch, featuring generous buffets, live cooking stations and music.
At Kandu Bar, sunset becomes part of the celebration. Guests can enjoy themed sundowners, including Sunset Carnival, Blush Sunset Hour and Flames of the Island. Each experience combines music, drinks and a relaxed beachfront setting.
New Year at the Circus
After Christmas, Niva Kurumba changes the mood with its New Year at the Circus theme.
Guests can enjoy a Beach Fiesta with music and DJ performances. Other highlights include a Maldivian Mas Race fishing competition, an Island Illusion magic show, a fire performance and a fashion show by the pool.
The celebrations reach their peak on New Year’s Eve.
The “A Night at the Circus” Gala Dinner brings fire performers and aerial artists to the island. At midnight, fireworks light up the Maldivian sky as guests welcome 2027.
Discover the Maldives Underwater
The festive programme also gives guests opportunities to explore the marine life surrounding the island.
Guided snorkelling excursions take guests into the warm, clear waters of the Maldives. Depending on the experience, guests may encounter stingrays, turtles and gentle nurse sharks.
The resort’s guides also lead excursions across coral gardens and reefs, offering a closer look at the vibrant underwater world.
On Christmas Day, guests can also visit a secluded sandbank. It is an opportunity to swim in crystal-clear water and enjoy the peaceful beauty of the Maldivian islands.
Festive Fun for Children
Families can expect plenty of activities for younger guests throughout the festive season.
Children can take part in gingerbread decorating, snowflake making, sand art, seashell crafts and clown crown making.
There will also be a sand snowman competition, a pool splash party and a Grand Show Stopper Fashion Show.
The festive programme continues with Christmas wreath making and a search for Santa across the sea. A Circus Cruise adds another fun adventure during the New Year celebrations.
Wellness and Time to Relax
For guests looking for a slower pace, LIME Wellbeing offers a selection of restorative experiences during the festive season.
The programme includes the Romantic Escape for two, the family-focused Together Treasure and Serenity Under the Stars.
The latter is an alfresco couples’ massage designed around a peaceful outdoor setting and traditional-inspired elements.
