MEEDHOO, DH. ATOLL, MALDIVES – In a powerful display of corporate social responsibility and community health advocacy, Sun Siyam Vilu Reef, in strategic partnership with the Cancer Society of Maldives, has successfully launched a landmark wellness initiative. Marking World Cancer Day 2025, this comprehensive programme combined sustainable tourism practices, community engagement, and vital health education to amplify awareness around cancer prevention and early detection in the Maldives.

The multi-faceted event, a core component of the resort’s esteemed Sun Siyam Care sustainability programme, was designed to inspire lasting change. The day began at dawn with an invigorating Community Morning Run on the island of Dh. Meedhoo, promoting physical wellness as a foundational pillar of preventative health. Following a communal, nutritious breakfast, the focus shifted to education with a specialized educational seminar for students at Dh. Meedhoo School, fostering awareness among the youth.
The advocacy continued at the award-winning Sun Siyam Vilu Reef resort, where a dedicated session was held for the resort’s team members. This internal programme emphasized the importance of health advocacy and proactive wellbeing, ensuring that the resort’s own community is equipped with crucial knowledge.
“This partnership underscores our unwavering commitment to the long-term wellbeing of both our team and the local communities that welcome us,” stated Thoha Yoosuf, Resort Manager at Sun Siyam Vilu Reef. “We are profoundly grateful to the Cancer Society of Maldives for their expertise.
