As part of the World Burger Tour, kicking off on June 14, chefs from Hard Rock Cafes around the globe have been tasked with crafting burgers that reflect the soul of their home country. And here in the Maldives, the result is something truly tropical.
The Island Spiced Coconut & Curry Burger, dreamed up by Chef Nikhil Gopinathan, isn’t just a dish-it’s a bite of Maldivian flavor in its purest form. Inspired by the country’s rich culinary roots, the burger stacks two juicy beef patties, slathered in house-made curry mayo, and topped with crunchy coconut flakes, arugula, cucumber, tomato, provolone, and a chimichurri cheese sauce. A final sprinkle of crispy fried potato tossed in island curry powder ties it all together. It’s spicy, creamy, and crunchy all at once-like a beach holiday between two buns.
From Rome to the Reef: A Global Flavor Fest
The Maldives entry joins a lineup of bold creations from across the world: from Rome’s Lasagna Burger (yes, it has béchamel) to Atlantic City’s Jersey Shore Burger with blueberry maple aioli. Each burger is available for a limited time-until August 5-and every one tells a story of its place of origin.
This year, there’s a new twist: Olivia Tiedemann, a chef and content creator known for her fresh takes on classic comfort food, has joined as mentor and judge. Working closely with the chefs, she’s helped shape each creation-including the one from the Maldives-pushing for flavor, creativity, and that unforgettable first bite.
“The energy these chefs brought to the kitchen was amazing,” Olivia shared. “Every burger reflects something real-memories, local ingredients, and pride.”

Throughout the summer, diners will vote for their favorites, both in person and on social media. The five top-performing burgers will be announced later in the season, with each one rolling out to Hard Rock Cafe locations worldwide before one final winner is chosen.
