Wellbeing, Reimagined: Inside Tempo’s Energizing Week at Mercure Maldives Kooddoo

July 21, 2025

In a place better known for hammocks and sunset cocktails, something very different just took over Mercure Maldives Kooddoo. For one vibrant week, the resort swapped quiet lounging for dynamic movement, community, and high-energy workouts-all thanks to Tempo’s Wellbeing Week, a celebration of wellness designed to awaken both body and mind.

At the heart of it was Radical Fitness, a fitness movement from Argentina that doesn’t just run classes-it creates experiences. With music, choreography, and a sense of theatre, these workouts transformed the resort into a stage for connection, energy, and fun.

Not Just Another Workout

From the main pool to the deck by the bar, every corner of the resort turned into a fitness hub. Tempo’s founder, Zinan, led a standout aqua fitness session that mixed the intensity of martial arts with the smooth resistance of water. It wasn’t just effective-it was actually fun. Guests of all ages joined in, punching through the water with gloved hands and laughter.

On dry land, Yan Fayaz-Tempo’s Commercial Director of Hospitality-kept the momentum going with two back-to-back formats: FightDo, a music-driven combat workout inspired by kickboxing and Muay Thai, and Factor F, a gritty strength-and-conditioning circuit that got hearts racing. Guests, staff, and fitness lovers came together in the heat and humidity to sweat it out—and left buzzing.

A Special Appearance

As if the week needed more star power, fitness personality Laura Giromini (a.k.a. @viverennewyork) made a one-time appearance for an “Endurance Elite” session. Think high energy, high burn, and high reward. Her presence added a layer of excitement and exclusivity to the week, and for many, it was a highlight they won’t forget.

A Bigger Picture

Tempo isn’t just doing pop-up classes in paradise. They’re quietly reshaping what wellness looks like in the world of hospitality. With garage-style gyms already running in Malé and Hulhumalé, and partnerships with respected names like NASM and Fitness Academy Europe, they’re laying the groundwork for a deeper, more sustainable approach to fitness in resorts.

Whether it’s training hotel staff to become certified coaches or launching globally recognized formats at properties like Pullman Maldives Maamutaa and Siyam World, Tempo is helping resorts offer more than just treadmills and yoga mats. They’re creating spaces where wellness actually fits into the way people travel today-fast-paced, immersive, and deeply personal.

Wellness That Stays With You

What made this week special wasn’t just the workouts. It was the way people connected. Guests pushed past their comfort zones. Staff joined in. Strangers became teammates for a few sweaty, unforgettable moments. That sense of community-of movement as celebration-is something that lingered long after the final cooldown.

And if this sounds like your kind of getaway, there’s a way to make it real.
