Voted “The Maldives’ Leading Water Villas” at the World Travel Awards, the 28 Water Villas (86m²) were completely rebuilt in 2011, boasting ocean view baths and private sun terraces with steps into the lagoon and a private plunge pool with water jets. The highlight of the architecture is the glass desk which is set over glass panels, giving the impression that it is floating over the water below. The decor features elegant natural tones of wood and soft whites with gentle shades of lavender and green. Understated, recessed lighting adds to the contemporary feel. Each villa boasts a private sundeck with wooden sun loungers, umbrella and plunge pool making this an ideal spot for private sun bathing during the day, or star gazing at night. Steps leading from the sundeck into the welcoming waters of the lagoon below allow endless swimming and snorkeling options right in front of the villa. Maximum occupancy: three adults. Children under 12 cannot be accommodated in over-water villas.

The Retreat Water Villa are set on stilts in a private part of the resort’s lagoon and offer an over-water home-from-home designed for pure relaxation of mind, body and soul. Clustered around the Spa Retreat – one of three spas at the resort – each villa is the perfect escape from the outside world and has its own separate spa treatment room with two massage beds, mini gym and medicine ball. Their spacious design blends contemporary Maldivian style in a natural harmony of wooden interiors, thatched roofs and a breezy indoor outdoor feel. The ocean is always in view allowing guests to feel at one with nature. The spacious bathroom includes large dressing area with day bed, and bathtub with ocean views. On the private sundeck is a large whirlpool and steps leading directly into the lagoon.

Sleeping a family of four in two separate bedrooms, this is an ideal choice for those travelling with children or friends. The master bedroom houses a king size bed, whilst the second bedroom offers guests two twin beds in their own enclosed space. Much like the Retreat Water Villa, these Family Water Villas have a whilrpool and ample outdoor space in which to relax and soak up the Maldivian sunshine.

Set on stilts over the water, both Premier Water Villas were built in 2011 for design lovers. They feature high-tech gadgets such as a 50-inch plasma screen TV, designer furniture and outdoor sundeck with a large infinity pool. Inside, the mood is contemporary chic with whitewashed walls and sloping ceilings showcasing a selection of artworks by Maldivian artist Eagan Badeeu.
